Maydale Nature Center Grand Opening Delayed
Earlier this year the Parks Department began demolishing the old Maydale Nature Center with the hopes that the new building would be up and running by this summer. Unfortunately, Parks ran into several challenges with the project that will delay the grand opening for several months.
The biggest challenge deals with the need to have a nearby fire hydrant in case of emergencies. The access road leading up to Maydale is also too narrow for a fire truck to turn into and navigate.
The good news is that Parks has a plan to deal with these issues and it appears to have the support of the county. The bad news is that it could delay the opening until early next year. Until then, Parks will continue hosting limited programming out of Maydale.
